CALGARY–CBC News will close the Calgary unit of its Newsworld channel as of next month. The public broadcaster announced Thursday that the two hours of Newsworld programming currently being produced from Calgary will shift to Toronto.

About a month ago, I wrote about patterns I found comparing Yale and Harvard in Google searches through Google Trends. Well, just today, Facebook released a simply fascinating tool called “Lexicon” which is the same thing, but for wall posts. Computers (not humans!) track the content of every wallpost for words and phrases, and you can search for trends and comparisons over time using this new tool. Very cool, right? Afghans at the Tarin Kowt Hospital in Oruzgan province became the beneficiaries of a truckload of supplies donated and shipped to Afghanistan by a group of retired soldiers from the National Guard’s 20th Special Forces Group. The supplies were distributed April 6 by Special Forces soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan and their Afghan national security force counterparts, according to an Army news release. We have a pir of mocking birds that built a nest right outside my front door, in two potten ficus trees that happened to tangle together. They laid theri eggs and four little babies began tweeting, being fed constantly. Lovely pics, dont; you think. I agree wiht my daughter that it looks like flowers. Last night we had an unusually cold night and very stiff winds. I went out to check the nest this morning and found it very titled. I also found one of the four babies had slipped out and its ne
